The Emergence of the Fast Fashion Business Model and Imposed Quick Response Challenges for Chinese Fabric Manufacturers Jennie Hope Peterson, Jimmy Chang, Yiu-Hing Wong, and Carl A. Lawrence Abstract This chapter explores and develops fast fashion in the current retailing industry and its impacts on how the Chinese textile manufacturing industry has adjusted to remain competitive. Fast fashion evolved at the turn of the twenty-ï ¬ rst century into a business approach characterized by fresh fashions, shorter life cycles, and faster production, placing signiï ¬ cant pressure for rapid delivery, quality products, and low prices for each segment of the supply chain in a highly competitive environment. This chapter will explore the development of dynamic capabilities of the woven cotton piecegood supply chain in China and Hong Kong in response to the emergence of the relatively new â€Å"fast fashion† retail business strategy and the consequent manufacturing adjustments along the supply chain which improved production output and reduced production costs for the Chinese factories. In addition, t he following text will overview a qualitative research study conducted by means of in-depth interviews with eight large Chinese textile factories to gain accurate data on the changes that are currently implemented to coincide with fast fashion’s model. The data may be beneï ¬ cial to buyers and suppliers in understanding difï ¬ culties faced by both producers and retailers in the fast fashion industry and may provide the possible changes China should make to further secure a competitive advantage in the global textile industry. Lastly, a model will be presented, which is useful to textile industry professionals for a better understanding of time management and costs associated with alternative production methods. Current research in fast fashion generally does not extend toward the manufacturing arm in China and to the reaction of the product suppliers; therefore, this work offers unique insight into the ways in which the T C C factories prioritise, manage, and innovate t o remain competitive. Latin Americ The Independence, Nation Building, And The...

Latin America in the 1820’s The independence, nation building, and the economy were three major settings during Latin America in the 1820’s. During this time Latin America was faced with the chance of change. Traditional Monarchical structure was merged into the Portuguese and Spanish colonial empires. The way that theses territories responded to change was distinctive to the region. Creole Cities in the eighteenth century were being affected by ideas from the new political ideals and the Enlightenment. Free Trade, free press, and equality were hugely appealing to people living in Latin America. Leaders of the independence movement were Simon Bolivar and Jose de San Martin. These two men have understood the ideas of the Englishmen better than anyone. In Latin America, nationalistic revolts started happening. â€Å"It would be easier to have two continents meet than to reconcile the sports of Spain and America.†, said Bolivar. Draining people from their wealth, he promoted nativism throughout these countries. Napoleon made room for change for the Latin American countries in the beginning of the eighteenth century. The way that he made room for change was by having Confidential wars. The colonial empires of the Spanish and Portuguese were highly weakened. Later on in 1810, Mexico went progressed through changes as well. The creole elites overthrew the rule o f peninsulas. Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, a priest and a studier of the French Revolution, in Mexico, came to the rescue.

Online Discussion Report

Question: Discuss about the Online Discussion Report. Answer: Consumer Behavior Consumer behavior can easily be named as one of the most important and tricky concept in marketing. One has to understand the needs of the end user before making a pitch for the product let alone marketing it. However, given that buying a product is more of a circumstantial decision, consumer behavior needs a lot of research to understand how, when, where and why would a customer buy the product we sell. A lot of emphasis is given to this topic as it decides an organizations approach to the marketing strategy (Solomon, 2014). To understand the customer behavior it is primary to understand what the target market is. Realizing this will help a company narrow down the customer market, understand the purchasing pattern of specific customers groups and then develop strategies for marketing. Say, a company sells automobiles for the middle class sector. The target would be customers who value money and are looking for the best possible price. Marketing to such customers would be price oriented highlighting the attributes that the automobile provides. At the same time the company would not adopt an online sale or marketing strategy as a customer would not buy an automobile without testing it. Understanding a customer psychology and figuring out why a customer would buy a product we sell would be the crux of marketing (Hanna, 2013). Several companies adopt methods such as surveys to understand what the customer wants, as asking the person what they need is better than guessing what they need. However, this approach may not always be true, especially when introducing new and innovative products (Juster, 2015). Some of the key concepts that effect the customer decision making process and purchase pattern are income, cultural background, social environment, attitude, needs, alternate options, purchase power, lifestyle, personality, knowledge, perceptions and so on. Assessing these characteristics in accordance to the intended market and marketing through appropriate channel is necessary for success of a product. Marketing strategy has to be developed in such a way that product over powers all the above mentioned attributes and drives the customer to purchase the product especially in a highly competitive environment like the consumer electronics, where almost all forms of marketing are adopted to convince customers from different backgrounds for different purchasing needs (Mullen, 2013). Also, to ensure that the customer continues purchasing the product, which is to sustain the current customer base it is crucial to provide exemplary post sales services that would keep the customer satisfied . Distribution Strategy (Place) It is no wonder that place is in the 4Ps of marketing as the place you sell a product is as crucial as pricing or promotion strategy you develop to sell the product. Place in marketing terms can also be called as Distribution channel. It determines where exactly we are selling a product (Sa, 2014). A customer would not buy a pet online. Say the customer wants to buy a dog, the first thing they need is to touch and see if the dog is comfortable with them. The same goes with automobiles or one time investment machineries. Since in all these cases the touch and feel is required before making a purchase decision. Distribution channels empower the expansion of business. Product such as cosmetics can be sold retail in supermarkets and at the same time through online retailers expanding the customer base and increasing the chances of purchase. The dealer at each of these places also plays a crucial role, as most of the customers purchase products that are recommended by them (Lu, 2013). How ever, the decisions to determine the point of sales and the distribution channels can be complex depending on the product in question. To decide on a distribution channel one must first understand all the attributes of the product in question, in which markets these products would sold and would the channel produce the revenue expected (Keating, 2013). Understanding if or not a customer would purchase a particular channel by placing ourselves in the shoes of the customer can help us decide if or not the distribution channel strategy is a good idea. An expensive high end product such as Bose Headphones should not be sold online as a customer would want to listen to it and determine if or not they are their moneys worth. Deciding the distribution channel is equally dependent on the organizations circumstances as well. Finance, network, places in which the company is present all play a role here. A small company that has very little investment to set up retail outlets at multiple places can be available over a huge area if they go with the online retail channel (Staelin, 2014). At the same time a microprocessor company would not sell their products online or retail but rather produce and sell them on request of the customer. Also, organizations should not adopt channels that are financially or logistically challenging. Hence deciding a distribution strategy requires a thorough analysis of the companys circumstances, the products attributes and the target markets requirements. Organisational Transformation and Scientific Change

Question: Discuss about the Organisational Transformation and Scientific Change. Answer: Introduction The present study deals with the sensible analysis of the organizational treatment of the establishment headed for its employees. The functional corporation delivers numerous forms of services related to IT for instance, development and execution of activities concerning ERP applications and projection, innovativeness of setup with technological solution in informatics and other performances. The company has its roots in Malaysia from the year 1996 with 80 workforces. The concern is currently experiencing a reduced extent of determination and self-worth among the workforces in assured circumstances within the industry (Siew et al. 2012). The foremost purpose refers to the responses of the employees who do not receive the required acknowledgment when they are magnificently prompted to perform the tasks of the precise jobs as well as develop the skills and propensities. This demoralizes the potential abilities of the personnel associated with diversified pattern of projects assigned to them. The carrying out and executing the respective assignments are essential to be accomplished with great responsiveness and empowerment of the individuals (Raman. and Yap, 1996). Synopsis of case issues The inspiration and encouragement of the varied groups of employees are spontaneously required to fulfil the desired tasks. This would definitely lead to the realization of specified objectives of the institute. Moreover, at all times, disagreement or conflicts arise among the project executive and accessing supervisor while approaching to design and prepare the scheme for sharing out of the resources. The key explanations for the differences of opinion stand in the planning and positioning of the assets by the accessing administrator. The supervising and policymaking superintendent or manager continually attempts to highlight and place in order her identifiable and clear-cut assignment and lay subsequent predominance on the added developments of missions. As a result, there happens to be a clash of attitudes, views and thoughts amid the personnel of associated teams that interrupt the internal working environment within the jurisdiction of the establishment (Armstrong and Taylor, 20 14). Maximum members are working in this association for longer than ten years. They have constantly been criticizing the referring manager in the assemblage; because they were never been able to identify the accurate sequence of progression and visualization headed for this establishment. The workers recognized that they do not possess professional technique in this administration and desired to quit the establishment. At the same time, it needs to encourage the new-fangled teams of workers and inspire their self-image and flourish their spirits of hard work in addition to the application of effort in different disciplines. The senior employees are concerned with their specialized competent skills needed to be nurtured and developed with utmost attention and training. The officials ought to provide the scope of growth of talents to fulfil the personal and professional targets which ultimately would satisfy the goals of the establishment (Bass, 2010). The organization requires setting the perfect ideals and skilfully dealing with the high-ranking and junior category of staffs to create the entrance of expansion of skills. The treatment of all working teams depend on the accurate channelization of professional policies to avoid the conflicts of different types of persons linked to the implementation and documentation of tasks in varied modifications of Information Technology (Madhani, 2014). The precedence of the self-cognizance as well as the essence of enthusiasm requires ascending to a worth mentioning stage of development for the miscellaneous growth of a purposeful entity. The wide-ranging philosophy of the commercial sector typically breaks into the social and emotional relationships shaped with a confident strength of personality. The infrastructural preparation requires producing an inspired platform to launch the indispensible values of administrative and workable features. This would guide the employees to revel their combined productions and challenge with the universal processes of methodological, acceptable and shared landscapes. The fundamental and environmental matters augment the actions of efficiency of a professional organization (Mimos.my, 2016). The societal as well as traditional, monetarist and assertive issues based on technological causes transport plentiful work-related breathing space for the knowledgeable persons to rise in advanced direction and obtain the truthful achievement in the field of encouragements. This simplifies the authorities to yield the exciting assignments that administer their resolutions and firmness in existence. This promotes to reveal a passionate and well-balanced confidence while challenging the adversities with a visionary and pioneering approach (Banfield and Kay, 2012). The throbbing state of affairs is fluently bettered by the personalities who breed their expression of cognizance and focus to standardize and implement the wide-ranging responsibilities and simple commitments of agreed extent of existence. The observation and appreciative reproduction of virtuous concerns in communicative approaches climaxes the method of sustainable understanding of restored perspectives in discussion of interconnecting supervision with an incomparable and astonishing encounter to trigger an hi-tech mission in the province of commercial undertakings The overseers of the business entity need to become accustomed to the declarations of notable organizational elegance and demonstrate innovatory systems of communication plans amongst the various players of the foundation (Mahdi et al.2015). Rendering to the views of Banfield and Kay (2012), the schemes of administrative behavior indicates as substantial sponsors for the beginners and mentors of the philosophies of interactive lessons. There exist the expertise as well as micro level issues to convey the variations in presentations, engineering quests, setup and the individuals indulged in the wide-ranging events. Nevertheless, Kaifi and Noori (2016) advocated that there remained strange patterns of rearrangement of organizational projects and focused sophistications within the functional association in the recent past. The progression of technological structures and varied outlines of services comprising the communicating methods of the women superintendents and operates have all-pervading possessions while functioning with a group. Bishop (2013) explained that the wilder procedures of enlightened investigation disseminate with behavioral trainings on the framework of collective liability and social conscience that cate gorizes the guidelines in the course of the creation of opportunities and consequences of forthcoming exposures. Agreeing to the analytical explanation of Cervone (2010), there positions an intense limit of modification of controlling guidelines to manage the rapid expansions of technological novelty and operational morals to outfit the staffs in prerequisite style as per the improved courses of programs of variations and psychosomatic observation to form the behavioral assertiveness. According to Davis (2011), the isolated method of specific members may be negotiated by the frankness of interface amid the labor force plus the management. It will yield an exceptional demonstration of performance and behaviors that discuss the different sets of dispositions and the efficacious handling of the entities and surveying the significant perceptions and projects that depict the physical appearance of the spiritual structure. The developing characteristics of the communities must be treasured from end to end of the manipulation of the propensities in applicable avenues of production. The staffs ought to secure to nurture the landscapes of collective technique of working beliefs and exercise group strength that poses continuously alongside the approaches of the leading complexities of the skilled experts. The motivation and reinforcement of the employees would unquestionably profit them to foster the inner personality en route for persistent attitude, predictable visualizat ion as well as self-assurance. This motivates and supports the professional footing and the services.in outstanding development (Dhliwayo 2014). The well-made power of the cultures would incontrovertibly display the conviction of the operative pursuits in the forthcoming years. The prolific routine of the supervision of working squad agitates by organizing the action plan universally whenever the group remains to understand the objectives in decent form and everywhere it demands additional extension. The investigation of the performers schedules is rationalized to focus on the structures of interest and foundation of cluster connections to effort corporately as well as take hold of the projections to compare the innumerable belvederes of lineup companions with a neutral assessment in what manner the side executes the programs. The united expression invests that the irreplaceable and the entire pressures on serious influences of performance and the unemotional pauses can be understood by the success of operations for improved routine (Hughes and Beatty, 2011). The prime initiator or leader becomes ready to counter to ample interrogations, as regards the sides determination, objectives and outlying connotations. The purposes are not logically fashioned at this stage. The band followers strive to discover them for the report of resolution. As soon as, the groups are prepared, they ride from side to side along an unpleasant storming session. The leading prefaces or customs are longstanding and eventually, the implementation phase is clasped (Pearson, 2012). There stances a shift of transformational measures with the desire of opposition which hints to acquire righteous level of enactment in within 5to7 weeks or else homogeneously for successions of 7days. This caring of seamless ideal founded on Tuchmans idea elevates a compassionate, reliable as well as an operative scheme of calculating and controlling the demonstration of association. This harvests quantifiable plus qualitative estimation by amassing the communicative and effective facts from the contributors of the group lengthways with the onlookers. The impediments are acknowledged and intermittently proposed in advance as they emerge. In treating the group movements, the knowledgeable side of the IT squad performs the relevant actualities to circumvent the storming episode and transmute promptly to the stage of norming period by producing robust set of instructions, which forms the noticeable obstacles (Davis, 2011). The commercial entrepreneur may generate optimistic verdicts and quests to learnedly undertake the self-doubting agendas to uphold the solitude of records of diverse groups of workers. This is tremendously vivacious and safeguards the characteristics to swing on the business of achievement of extensive productivities. The prediction of the specialized culture ought to turn out to be familiarized to the statements of distinguished sophistication of management and reveal innovative arrangements of shared tactics among the generous performers of the affiliation. The appraised available accumulation of facilities is fair to undertake the events of service. Instantaneously, the supporting expediencies exercise a phase of agreement of provisions of accredited suggestions that climax the policies of interventions for the external competitors. It postulates the results to produce a practical assessment of values while scrutinizing the prospective talents of the workforces in eminent fields of operational conditions. The procedures of the association legalize the conventional statuses of functions to select the particular staffs amid the modest segments of the collective situations notwithstanding the traditional and spiritual classifications and consciences (Machado, 2015). There are classified reasons of organizational transgressions and outlooks that demarcate the distresses of multiplicities in the controlling of staff for the professional institute. Organizational routines of working phenomena frequently lead to confusions in addition to formation of gaps in relational affairs instigating terrific commotions in intellectual harmony which hypotheses incongruities and disordered environments within the place of drudgery. The persons evolving from distinguishing educational and traditional situations embrace modest ideals and measures of working criteria to justify their purposes of proficient pursuits (McCurdy, 2012). There causes analytical miseries, anguishes, conflicts of sentiments, shocking conditions surrounded by the exterior over and above in-house situation of the institute because of the displeasure of procedures and values of managerial Subdivisions as assumed in the midst of the high-ranking personnel. The workforces at diverse settings of the organizational Service area are not comfortable with the conduct of the administrative implementation of integrating the activities at unnecessary method to successfully execute the miscellaneous forms of projects (Jarod Law Ding Yong, 2016). The aptitudes of sovereignty of behavior and latent forecasts of the characters are examined by the instruction of the specialists who are suitable to intersect the dynamic viewpoints of awareness and customary segmentations to reduce the expressive and self-controlled belvedere. The miscellaneous flairs of dissertations and consultations, interactive dealings, computerized demonstrations of program of catalogues, terminuses of arrangements and sessions are principally substantiated for the miscellaneous set of agendas (Gonzlez and Guilln 2010). You Are The Owner Of A Large Ship. You Sail Around The World And Trade

You are the owner of a large ship. You sail around the world and trade goods with other countries. A French investor has agreed to pay for your next trip if you can bring back a profit and, hopefully, goods that he can sell to local merchants. If for any reason you do not return with a profit, he has the right to back out of the deal, and you'll be stuck paying for everything. Before you sail from your homeport in Lisbon, Portugal, you will need to make several important decisions about how to prepare for your journey and what route to take. If you succeed, you will be extremely wealthy and will cement your reputation as a spice trader, ensuring that more rich investors come your way. But if you fail, you may go bankrupt and lose your ship, not to mention ruin your reputation. Food and spices of the Renaissance were the fruit of explorers' labor. Through exploration and trade, bizarre and exotic foods native to newly found territories became commonly traded goods. In addition new way s were found to use already common staples, and the number of spices went from a few to a few hundred. The Renaissance was a time of great discovery, and new foods were one of them. During the Renaissance, different regions of Europe had foods that were more common to them and less common to other areas. Around the coast fish was the food of choice. Herring and cod were prevalent in the north, and in the south sardines, anchovies, and tuna were among the more commonly consumed fish1. On the other hand cattle and other domestic animals were more common around inland regions. Cows, sheep, and goats were among the most commonly raised domestic animals. As meat most of these animals were eaten when they were young as veal, lamb, and kid2. Of the all the foods that were common throughout all of Europe bread and grain were by far the most common. Peasants and aristocrats alike consumed bread. The rich ate white bread made of refined wheat flour3. Where as the poor ate darker breads and flat bread because they were much cheaper4. In England biscuits became very popular. Grains, such as polenta and oats were also a universally consumed staple. Of all the many foods during the Renaissance foods of the bread group were among the most common. They were not only very cheap but were very healthy. The making of bread was highly regulated during the renaissance5. At first, rules were imposed upon bakers from the higher authorities. Grouping the bakers together was simply a more efficient way of ensuring that they followed the rules. As local economies developed, however, these organizations began to go off on their own. Groups began to formulate their own regulations to better profit from their status in the public diet. Some forms of public health regulations have undoubtedly been around since the start of urbanization. For bakers, the easiest rules to impose were those regarding bread weights and prices. Requirements on bread prices, quality, weight, and freshness have been documented to well before even the renaissance6. Generally, however, regulations were enforced at the local level. Standards varied from town to town according to grain availability and tastes. For example, the Winchester Assize of 1203 stated that white bread made in our city of Winchester shall weigh thirty shillings, but black bread sixty-five shillings7. The most widespread regulation was the Assize of Bread. This English law made in 1266 attempted to standardize the various local policies8. The Assize directed bakers to make a common weight of bread known as a penny loaf. However, the loaf could vary in weight, and thus price, according to the type of flour used. the white loaf was made from the finest white flour available. The wheaten loaf was coarser, and weighed half as much. household loaves were approximately double the weight of white loaves, made from unbolted flour9. Although the assize of bread made a good attempt, bread weights were inconsistently based on the going local rate of grain, and weights differed throughout the country. The Judgment of the Pillary was a law spelling out procedures to investigate and punish offenders10. In times

The Conceptual Issue The main problem modern people usually face is managing time and stress. It is obvious that while working and having some specific goals people want to reach better results and to occupy higher positions. All this influence human nerves as in most cases people have to do many things at once. People try to do many different things at one and the same time. The inability to manage time leads to stressful conditions.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Managing Time and Stress specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Application to the Personal Job Experience Considering personal experience I would like to state that there were numerous situations when I appeared in the similar condition. Trying to do all the things at one and the same time, I understood that it was impossible for me to complete all the tasks and I hardly met the deadlines. Then, I understood that something had to be done. I tried to create a plan and set time for each activity. Moreover, I focused only on one activity at the time. Sometimes, it was impossible to complete the task as new, more urgent tasks, were offered. Still, I tried to make notes of the new ones and complete at least the stage of what I was busy with. Evaluation of its Effect upon Performance, Satisfaction, Absenteeism, and/or Turnover The strategy of effective managing time and stress is really efficient for performance. Doing one task at a time and being provided with the deadline stimulates for better results. Such works brings satisfaction as well as the results. Still, the absenteeism may cause a number of problems. Having created a plan, people may put away the most stressful tasks and leave less time on them, considering those unnecessary. Proper time and stress management helps people do the tasks faster that influences turnover positively. A Plan for Improving on This Competency There are other useful pieces of advice which may help provid e this strategy successfully. People should focus on the urgency of the task first. It is important to eliminate distractions; still, one should remain in contact with others. It is a common knowledge that physical activities stimulate human mental activity. Some may consider physical exercises as the best way for improving time and stress management as one of the most valuable business asset should b kept in an appropriate form, a person that does the tasks. Results of the Plan If one follows the general rules of managing time and stress in combination with the additional ones provided above, the work is going to be effective and employee is going to get great satisfaction. Moreover, the positive effect of the work is going to be seen very soon. Communicating Effectively with Others The Conceptual Issue Effective communication with others is really important for running business. The main idea of communicating effectively is to provide others with accurate and specific information without beating about the bush. One of the best examples for using this strategy is when you have to tell the partner over the telephone the benefits of working with you. You have mo more than a minute, otherwise the partner will become bored. This management strategy comprises two main features, active listening and concise talking to the point.Advertising Looking for essay on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Application to the Personal Job Experience It is important to remember that using effective communication may help solve numerous problems. Once I was too busy and had to talk to some employees about a new task. I did not spend much time on it being sure that everything is understandable, but when the work was completed in a wrong way, I had to communicate with those employees, one more time, answer their questions and provide deep explanation. This time the communication was effective and the task wa s done perfectly. Evaluation of its Effect upon Performance, Satisfaction, Absenteeism, and/or Turnover Effective communication influences the performance greatly. The ability to communicate effectively gives an opportunity to understand the task properly and get satisfaction from the work. Moreover, effective communication helps reduce to absenteeism minimum and get the highest satisfaction from the work. It is natural that when the task is completely understood and while providing it the communication is possible, which helps to complete it, the turnover increases. A Plan for Improving on This Competency There are some specific guidelines which may help improve this competency. First of all, a person should learn to listen actively as talking to the point is easier. There are some specific steps one should learn to improve the effectiveness of communication and active listening in particular. First, one should show the readiness for listening. Second, he/she should to respond to t he said using different words. Third, it is important to ask questions which should be open-ended. Fourth, one should be ready to clarify some information even if it is understandable somehow. Results of the Plan Thus, following these steps one will be able to improve listening skills and add to the effective communication which is really important, especially in the business world if one wants to achieve set goals. Having learnt to listen to colleagues actively, the communication between you and another employee may result in your favor. This may be crucial in negotiations when huge sum of money is put at stake and you need to win. Motivating and Inspiring Others The Conceptual Issue Motivation is really crucial in the modern world of business. If one works on the basis of motivation and inspiration, it is a guarantee of success. It is a human nature to do something better if he/she is either motivated or inspired. Salary is not the thing which may inspire as people got used to get money for their job, but additional payment may be a motivation. When a person does something he/she likes or even fond of, it is inspiration which helps to get the better results faster and with more successful outcome. Application to the Personal Job Experience Working in the company, I understood that employees who are neither inspired nor motivated with a new task do not hurry to complete the task. It is also obvious that the work done without the forces mentioned above will be completed as faster as possible without attention to the quality.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Managing Time and Stress specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Considering personal working experience, I can say that when I was given a task which interested me, it was unimportant for me whether additional motivation was provided or not. It was interesting for me and nothing else mattered. But, when the task was boring, I needed some speci fic motivation to compete it in time and quality. Evaluation of its Effect upon Performance, Satisfaction, Absenteeism, and/or Turnover Motivation and inspiration influence performance greatly. The higher motivation/inspiration, the better the work is going to be done. The satisfaction from the work under the conditions mentioned above is great. Motivation/inspiration also helps avoid absenteeism and increase turnover as when the work which brings pleasure is done, one may complete more tasks without being tired too much. It should be mentioned that it does not matter whether financial motivation is provided or other one, the performance and turnover still remain at high level. A Plan for Improving on this Competency Before getting down to improving the motivation and inspiration others, it is important to understand the core model when this strategy works. On the one hand, the motivation should be target and desired. This means that employees should be motivated with the offer. On the other hand, employees should be assured that the reward will be provided as soon as the task is checked and the positive results are received. Thus, the motivation/inspiration facilities should become constant and the employees would be sure that their work would be awarded. Results of the Plan If employees are motivated/inspired constantly, the work is always completed with the best outcomes. The company productivity increases and the environment in the company is the healthy and positive. Resolving Conflicts with Others The Conceptual Issue Working in any company, communicating with different people, it is impossible to avoid conflicts. So many men so many minds, they say. In this situation it is important to remain calm and to be able to solve the conflict as faster as it is possible. Conflicts at the workplace ruin the atmosphere and do not make it possible to continue performing tasks. Thus, it is really important to be able to resolve conflicts at the workplace and do it i nvisible for other employees.Advertising Looking for essay on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Application to the Personal Job Experience Working at the company, I faced the problem that many people wanted to provide their personal opinion without noticing others, sometimes even better thoughts. The work of our Human Resource manager was perfect in such cases. She tried to solve the problem immediately by means of providing the active communication strategy expressing her personal ideas about what was wrong. If this did not work, she involved the whole department into communication and tried to encourage everybody to consider the problem and offer some reasonable resolving. In this case, the problem stopped to be the problem anymore and became the task which had to be done. Evaluation of its Effect upon Performance, Satisfaction, Absenteeism, and/or Turnover Possessing the techniques for conflict resolving, the performance at the work place should improve as time is not spent on unnecessary quarrels. Employees are always satisfied when the environment at the workplace is posi tive and healthy. The absence of the conflicts or their fast resolving adds to this effect. Taking into account the situation from the personal experience, it is impossible to ignore the problem when everybody is involved into its resolving. So, effective conflicts resolving effects absenteeism making it impossible. Still, some time is usually spent on resolving the conflict, so the turnover is reduced. A Plan for Improving on this Competency Here are some steps each person should complete to be able to resolve conflicts successfully or to improve this competency. The conflict should never be ignored. Then right time and location should be chosen. The parties should state the rules according to which they are going to provide their conversations. The central rule should be devoted to the fact that the parties do not leave until the problem is resolved. Parties should be accommodating. People should not try to skip the problem and start the talk off in a different direction. Result s of the Plan One of the main outcomes of the plan offered above is that the problem will be resolved. Moreover, the parties of the conflict will think later about the necessity to spend time on it and will try to avoid conflicts getting down to negotiations as soon as possible. Executing the Leadership Function The Conceptual Issue Leadership is important in modern life. Some people got used to push others, while others cannot imagine anything creative and prefer to be pushed. Executing the leadership function means that a person takes not only the controlling function, but also the performing one. In other words, the leader bears the whole responsibility about the outcome of the affair. It is also important to mention that two leaders cannot coexist without conflicts, especially if they have opposite ideas about how the problem should be solved and which activities should be provided. Application to the Personal Job Experience I have never tried to be a leader, still, I always hav e personal opinion and do not miss a chance to express it. Working in the company, I have never tried to become a leader in a number of reasons. The main reason is that I am scared of responsibility. I should better perform my task and would not respond for others. Once I was absolutely dissatisfied with one project and I made a decision to execute the leadership function. I was pleased as I managed to organize the work in the way I saw it and people trusted my opinion and did everything to reach the common goal, complete the task. I understood that if the work is properly organized, I should not worry about the outcome as everything is going to be perfect. Evaluation of Its Effect upon Performance, Satisfaction, Absenteeism, and/or Turnover When one person controls the whole process, it is easier to follow the performance. Leaders usually consider who work better and award them to encourage others to the same results. This influences performance positively. Moreover, one of the mai n responsibilities of the leader is to organize the work in such a way that everybody was satisfied. Absenteeism is impossible in this case as the leader follows the process and can correct the task if necessary. The turnover of working tasks is also improved as people know what they have to do. A Plan for Improving on This Competency One of the best ways to improve on this competency is to attend the lectures or training devoted to leadership. Still, the first task people should perform is to consider who have leadership inclinations at the workplace. Planned training at the workplace is a good opportunity to have better performing results and improve the competency within each employee. Results of the Plan If the plan is provided on the basis of the recommendations mentioned above, the company will have a number of leaders which may substitute each other while performing different tasks. Moreover, those who are aware of the specific of executing leadership functions are going to f ollow the instructions of others more thoroughly. Easy Baking Powder Substitution for Cooking

Easy Baking Powder Substitution for Cooking Are you doing any baking? If you find yourself having only baking soda and a recipe that calls for baking powder, or vice versa, do you know enough about cooking chemistry to make a substitution? All you need is a bit of cooking chemistry to save the day. Using Baking Powder When the Recipe Calls for Baking Soda You can substitute baking powder in place of baking soda, though you will need a bit more baking powder, because it contains additional ingredients. If the recipe calls for baking soda, use 2-4 times more baking powder. So, if the recipe uses 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, use at least 1 teaspoon baking powder. Another suggestion is to replace an acidic liquid in the recipe with a non-acidic one. For example, if you are doing a substitution and the recipe calls for buttermilk, youll get better results if you change to regular milk. Using Baking Soda When the Recipe Calls for Baking Powder You cant directly substitute baking soda if you are out of baking powder. However, you can make your own baking powder, using two parts cream of tartar and one part baking soda. It can get a bit tricky to get the measurements right if you only need 1 teaspoon of baking powder, so what you might want to do is mix up a small batch of homemade baking powder and save the rest for later (stored in a sealed container to keep moisture away). Mix together 1 teaspoon baking soda with 2 teaspoons cream of tartar. Then measure the amount of baking powder that you need from that mixture. Another variation on this recipe is to mix 1/4 teaspoon baking soda, 1/4 teaspoon corn starch, and 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar. This yields 1 teaspoon of baking powder, which also acts as a double-acting baking powder. Youll get the best results with this version if you use 1 teaspoon of the homemade baking powder for every 1 cup of flour in the recipe. If you use homemade baking powder, be sure to bake your recipe right away after mixing the ingredients. There are commercial baking powders that will allow you to let a recipe sit for a while before baking, but its generally a good plan to start heating the food immediately, since the reaction that causes baked goods to rise starts as soon as the wet ingredients are added. Notes About Baking Substitutions Substituting leavening agents such as baking powder and baking soda doesnt usually have a huge impact on flavor because these ingredients are present in fairly small amounts. However, you might notice a flavor or texture difference. It wont necessarily be bad. In fact, you might discover a new favorite recipe!

Biological Surrogacy in the United States

Biological Surrogacy in the United States Research Paper Thousands of women in the United States face difficulties with fertility. They suffer from numerous health problems, because infertility always leads to a huge moral pain. Society often views women, who cannot have children, as men-like and incomplete. Even the most expensive reproductive technologies do not help to solve female infertility problems. In this context, biological surrogacy and egg donation represent the two easy ways to help a woman become a mother.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Biological Surrogacy in the United States specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Every year, the number of children born through surrogacy in the United States grows. However, the legal, ethical, and moral limitations of biological surrogacy should not be ignored. Women who agree to become surrogate mothers must prepare themselves for the moral and physical pains of separation with the child. Women who choose surroga te mothers to carry their babies must be ready to accept the child, regardless of his (her) physical state at birth. At present, biological surrogacy resembles the act of trade, when the childs genetic parents manipulate the surrogate mother, using their power and finances. Biological surrogacy can give some hope to the women, who have fertility problems, but only when effective legislation is developed to govern the relationships between biological parents and surrogate mothers. Biological Surrogacy: The Case of Tiffany Burke and Crystal Kelley Biological surrogacy has become so common in the United States, that it is no longer shameful for a woman to say that she is carrying someone elses child. It is a source of childbearing hopes for many infertile women, as well as a good moneymaking opportunity for the women, who can bear and give birth to a child. Tiffany Burke, 31, is currently pregnant with the twins she is carrying for her brother and sister-in-law (Hudson, 2012). She is m onitoring her health and calls herself as 60% organic (Hudson, 2012). Tiffany says that the babies she is carrying were formed with her brothers sperm and her sisters egg (Hudson, 2012). She already has a child of her own, and she knows what it feels like being pregnant. It is interesting that Tiffany was the initiator of this pregnancy, after her sisters uterus was removed as a result of uncontrolled bleeding (Hudson, 2012). She eats organic foods and uses vinegar instead of traditional shampoo. What she does not know is whether her pregnancy will go well for her, the babies, and the biological parents. She does not know what she will do, in case anything goes wrong. This is the question Crystal Kelley might have been asking herself, when a nice couple she met at the playground decided she could be their surrogate (Chapin, 2013). By the time Kelley agreed to become a surrogate, she already had two daughters and a tragic experience of two miscarriages (Chapin, 2013).Advertising Looking for essay on family law? However when, at 21 weeks, an ultrasound revealed considerable health abnormalities, the genetic parents offered $10,000 for Kelley to make an abortion (Caplan, 2013). Kelley refused and moved to Michigan, where she was free to control her body. She gave birth to a girl, who was adopted by the family that has enough financial means to raise her and meet her health needs (Caplan, 2013; Chapin, 2013). Biological Surrogacy: The Why and How of the Problem Why Women Do It Biological surrogacy raises numerous ethical and legal issues, one of them being the right to autonomy, privacy, and self-control. Still, the number of families which apply to biological surrogacy continues to increase each year. The basic question is why, despite so many ethical challenges, families ch oose biological surrogacy. The answer is simple: everyone wants to have a child of their own. The fact is that egg donation and biological surrogacy greatly increase womens chances to become mothers. According to Steinbock (2004), a woman who is infertile and uses her own eggs for in vitro fertilization has a 15 percent chance to become pregnant, compared to a 40 percent chance for a woman, who uses donated eggs. The situation with biological surrogacy is quite similar: for many women who cannot get pregnant naturally, surrogacy provides the only real opportunity to have a child (Steinbock, 2004). Tiffany Burke, who is carrying the twins for her brother- and sister-in-law, understands how difficult it is not to have a child, and this is probably why she decided to sacrifice her body for the sake of pregnancy. However, Burkes case is a rare example of nobility, unlike other cases, when surrogacy is just a matter of money and control. Biological Surrogacy as a Commodity With the absen ce of effective regulations, biological surrogacy resembles the act of trade, where the child is exchanged for a considerable sum of money, and the surrogate mother is just a physical means for having a baby. Commodification is one of the biggest ethical problems in the context of egg donation and surrogacy. Women who donate their eggs are paid between $2,500 and $5,000 (Steinbock, 2004). Chrystal Kelley was paid $22,000 for her pregnancy and could receive another $10,000, if she agreed to make an abortion (Caplan, 2013). Thus, surrogacy for money is about money – not love, or help, or altruism or doing good. Money is most attractive to those who need it most (Caplan, 2013). Biological surrogacy is very much like renting the surrogate mothers womb for a good sum of money. Certainly, it is possible to say that everything in this world is bought and sold. Scientists sell their minds; lawyers sell their knowledge of the legal procedures; and athletes sell their physical abilitie s and bodies to cope with their daily needs (Steinbock, 2004).Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Biological Surrogacy in the United States specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More At times, individuals agree to sell their body parts and organs, when they have no other way to earn for living. However, they do not sell their souls or votes, because it is morally unacceptable. No one wants to be treated as property. Nevertheless, in most cases, this is what happens to the women, who have agreed to become surrogate mothers. No one says that biological surrogacy is absolutely wrong and should not be allowed. Rather, surrogacy cannot be permitted in its present-day form. It should be thoroughly regulated by the state, and it is state that should (or should not) compensate surrogate mothers for their noble decisions. Only then, biological surrogacy will become moral and acceptable, when no financial interests are involved. Biologica l Surrogacy and Body Control Another problem is that of biological surrogacy and body control. Women who agree to rent their wombs for money often have no voice in the medical and financial decisions regarding their body. Many of them understand that surrogacy is a huge responsibility (Hudson, 2012). For many others, the lack of control over their bodies becomes an unpleasant surprise during pregnancy. Crystal Kelley, who was asked to abort her child because of the health problems revealed during an ultrasound, received a letter from an attorney who was telling her that, under the surrogacy contract, she had no legal right to keep the child (Caplan, 2013). Under the surrogacy contract, she was required to make an abortion in case any health problems were identified (Caplan, 2013). However, no one can make a woman get rid of the unborn baby. Under no circumstances can this decision be regarded as legal (Caplan, 2013). Even if the surrogate mother signs a contract, its provisions have no legal power. The attorney who was pressuring Crystal Kelley to seek an abortion can lose his license, because his letter was a serious violation of law (Caplan, 2013). Still, biological surrogacy increases the risks of exploitation. Even providing large monetary rewards for surrogacy can become a form of coercion. Many women cannot resist the temptation to earn some money for being pregnant. As a result, they turn themselves into a commodity. The money they receive for carrying and giving birth to a child may not be worth the risks of exploitation, which these women are facing. Kelley was threatened that, in case she refused an abortion, she would have to pay back the money she had received from the genetic parents (Caplan, 2013). She was manipulated to become a murderer of the child, which is equal to a serious crime. However, she was strong enough to withstand the pressure and give birth to a child.Advertising Looking for essay on family law? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More She had even more power and strength to find a family that would care for the sick girl. Looking back at Kelleys case, it is possible to say that any surrogate agency which conveyed an offer of money to encourage an abortion is guilty of at best bribery and an attempt to crassly manipulate a vulnerable woman (Caplan, 2013). Now, What Happens Next? Now that the surrogate child is born, what happens to him (her) and how are his (her) relations with the genetic parents develop? This is the question, which matters a lot but does not receive enough professional attention. Biological surrogacy is often described as a process that starts with egg and sperm donation and ends, when the baby is born. Yet, it is clear that children who are born through surrogacy lack a physical and psychological link with their genetic parents (Golombok, Readings, Blake, Caset, Marks Jadva, 2011). Unfortunately, Tiffany Burke does not think of how the babies she is carrying will build their relations with the genetic parents. Crystal Kelley sounds quite confident that the foster parents she has found for her newborn girl will be able to meet her most serious health needs. Today, the children born through surrogacy do not differ much from their peers, who were born through natural conception (Golombok et al., 2011). Families that used surrogacy do not seem to be different from the families, which never experienced any fertility problems. Getting back to the ethics of biological surrogacy, what will the children born from surrogate mothers say to their biological parents, when they learn about their origins? How will they react to the fact that they were carried and born by a different woman? Will they experience confusion in terms of their mother-and-child roles? Will they treat the surrogate mother as a womb rented to give them life? These questions do not have any answers, as well as the questions related to the morality of biological surrogacy in the modern world. Many societies and c ommunities feel that surrogacy is just another step towards a cyborg society, where robots and humans live side by side. Many others treat surrogacy as a huge hope for those women, who cannot have children. Many issues related to surrogacy remain unresolved. Meanwhile, many women do not even know what it takes to be a surrogate mother. Much of the current confusion regarding biological surrogacy is because of the lack of knowledge, information, and openness in relations between genetic parents and surrogate mothers. Those, who agree to become a surrogate, do not even imagine the difficulties associated with this role (Steinbock, 2004). With so many women having fertility problems, surrogacy should remain an accessible and affordable way to have a baby, but only when new regulations are developed to help surrogate mothers avoid exploitation, commodification, coercion, and harm. This is the only way biological surrogacy can save the society from the risks of a demographic crisis and h elp infertile women become mothers. Conclusion When it comes to biological surrogacy, one of the central questions is whether it is justified. The results of this analysis show that surrogate mothers can provide thousands of women with a chance to become mothers. Surrogacy is a good alternative to more traditional adoption, since the child born through surrogacy carries the essential genetic features of his (her) parents. However, as the number of surrogate mothers continues to grow, the United States needs better regulations to control and manage this sphere. The cases analyzed in this paper suggest that women, who agree to be surrogate mothers, face numerous risks. First, they can be easily manipulated into becoming surrogates, because they are offered huge monetary rewards for being pregnant. Second, these women often do not know what it takes to be a surrogate and how it impacts their fundamental rights. Third, women who agree to be surrogates are subject to exploitation and coe rcion risks. For example, genetic parents can push them towards an abortion, if they learn that the baby has severe physical abnormalities. This is why the United States needs a new set of laws and regulations to help surrogate mothers defend their rights to autonomy and decision making. The problem is not about biological surrogacy. Being pregnant with someone elses child is neither immoral nor illegal, but when pregnancy does not turn into an object of trade. In the absence of a solid legal environment, surrogacy turns unborn babies into a commodity that can be bought and sold. New legislation will help protect the right of the unborn babies, while also making surrogate mothers less vulnerable to the risks of exploitation and abuse. References Caplan, A.
